More News

Hi everyone!

A lot of exciting things have been going on over the last couple of weeks, so I thought I'd share some of them with you.

First off... foreign deals! Thanks to my phenomenal agents, Taryn Fagerness and Kevan Lyon, terms have been settled with Germany (Piper), Italy (Sperling), and Greece (Psichogios) for two and three book deals. I'm incredibly excited and may actually have the opportunity to travel to Germany next fall (of 2010). Now I'm busy composing thank-you notes to all the foreign editors -- I'm so thrilled to have been given the chance to work with them.

I've also been very involved with the production of the English version of Legacy -- getting to see interior artwork samples for chapter headings, taking a look at the work of the artist who is doing the maps (AMAZING -- check out www.betsyhillman.com/kirk for samples. Go to www.guildedquill.com for an idea of what the interior art will be like -- I'm absolutely in LOVE with this woman as well). In addition, I've been listening to some possible narrators for the audiobook version!

Another point of interest: I've finally decided that the name of the third book in the series will be Redemption. I went through a lot of possible names, but none of them fit for one reason or another -- this one really seems to sum up the book and flow with the other two titles, so once again, I'm very excited.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Oh my gosh, it's so great to have found another young author!

I read about you on the TIME article about Amazon and I couldn't believe that there was someone else who had written a novel at age 14. I actually published mine earlier in life than you--I'm still 14 (ALMOST 15) and I already have my novel, Double Life, self-published and on Amazon:

I just can't believe I found someone else--and you've hit it big time too! I can't congratulate you enough!

Cayla,

Now that I have composed myself, I'd like to ask you if you could join me on my Internet radio show about publishing. Your story would be inspiring to all self publishers like myself who are hoping to someday get that big break. We could also talk about how you write, stuff like that. If you'd like to, shoot me an email at dawson(at)vosburgs(dot)org (you know what to do with that, I assume) and we can talk about it.

Hey again, Dawson -- sorry, for some reason that second comment of yours didn't come through into my email, so I'm just seeing it now! I actually can't arrange publicity engagements/interviews myself; all of it goes through my PR person, Mariella Souflis (msouflis[at]waggeneredstrom.com). If you send an email to her, she might be able to arrange something. Thanks so much though!

Cayla,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment! My co-host and I will definitely talk to her about it.

BTW, I'm asking for your book for my birthday :)

I sent an email to your publicist. I hope she's able to find a good time for us to talk about writing and publishing on our show.
